New piano & stories album coming soon

Katherine Forbes | pianist

I started taking piano lessons when I was in second grade… which was more than twenty years ago. Since then I’ve taken more music lessons than I can count (thanks mom and dad), performed on many stages, conducted from my fair share of unstable drum major podiums, marched on everything from parking lots to professional football fields, graduated college with a dual music degree, and now I have my own business in the music industry.

I knew music was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life when I was in elementary school... but I didn’t want to be a music teacher, church organist, perform as part of a symphony, or be in the pit for a musical. Why? Honestly, because I like being the center of attention when it comes to performing, I don’t want to be told what to play, and I wasn’t interested in getting my masters or doctorate (sassy, I know 💁🏻‍♀️). But I didn’t have any role models with a performance career that I looked up to, so I didn’t think it was possible.

When I went to college I didn’t even declare Piano Performance as a major until the professors suggested I do it along with Music Technology. That’s how certain I was that making it as a pianist couldn’t be a reality.

Now having been in Nashville for eight years, I’ve seen what it takes to have a career as a musician… and I want to go teach college students that it is possible! Then I thought, if I’m so sure that it’s possible, why don’t I do it myself?

So now here we are! Not only am I recording several of my favorite classical piano pieces, but I’ve also written personal stories to go with each song to share how music has taught me patience, focus, and how to appreciate and learn from life’s challenges... because life pushes us in ways we don’t want to be pushed, doesn’t it? My goal is to inspire and teach you how to find your inner confidence so you can push through uncertainty and really go after what you want in life too.
